Pentacostal Winds Acts 1:9 and 2:1 #1004

TITLE:   PENTECOSTAL WINDS ARE BLOWING AGAIN

PURPOSE:  TO EXPLAIN THE EXPERIENCE OF THE PENTECOSTAL CHURCH.

Acts 1:8 (KJV)
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2:1-4 (KJV)
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

INTRODUCTION:  I believe that there are visitors from another world walking among the Children of God.  When I say another world  … I am not referring to other worlds from outer space.  I am thinking of those who come from other church worlds.  . . other denominations.  We are witnessing a revival of the PENTECOSTAL experience in the land…and it is happening in churches that do not wear the manacle of PENTECOSTALISM.  Can I just talk to you for a bit and share with you what God is doing in the church right now.  He has and is releasing once again the WINDS OF PENTECOST upon the earth.  Didn't God say in Joel 2:28-29 (KJV)

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: [29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Please… lets take a few moments and examine the contents of the Scripture in Acts chapters 1 and 2.
GOD JUST RELEASED THE RESPONSE TO HIS PROMISE.

I.        IT SOUNDED LIKE WIND

        A.        But it wasn't the wind.

        B.        It was SUDDEN like the wind storm.

C.        It was STRONG like a hurricane, tornado or cyclone.

HURRICANE:  A tropical cyclone having winds moving at about 75 miles per hour or more, usual originating in the West Indies.

CYCLONE:  A storm or system of winds rotating clockwise in the southern hemisphere or counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere.  2.  Loosely, any violent and destructive whirling windstorm.

God sent what sounded like WIND on the day of Pentecost to destroy the works of the devil with violence.

TORNADO:  A whirling wind of exceptional force and violence, accompanied by a funnel shaped cloud marking the narrow path of greatest impact or destruction.

God marked a narrow path to Jerusalem.  Even narrower…to the upper room.

        D.  It was not what it sounded or even acted like.

E.        The KJV referred to this Holy Phenomenon as "IT".

F.        IT made its impact on the SENSES.

G.        No matter what IT sounded like…
        IT was What God PROMISED.

II.        IT WAS SEEN AS TONGUES OF FIRE.

A.        The tongues were moving in all directions as though under the influence of a strong WIND.

B.        God prepares a thing … THEN He uses IT.

C.        No matter what IT looked like … IT was still what God Promised.

III.        IT SPOKE AS MEN OF DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.

A.        Sometimes what God does appears confusing to man.

B.        We can see here when that which is confusing becomes intelligent.

C.        No matter how great the noise of confusion … IT was still what God Promised.

D.        God was birthing the Church and preparing IT to produce more offspring.  He was preparing them for their assignment to WITNESS.

CONCLUSION:

While waiting for what God promised … wishing for what you want… Don't let your WITNESS get

WASHED UP … WORN OUT

DON'T YOU GET
        WEARY …
DON'T LOOSE YOUR WAY
DON'T YOU WAVER …  DON'T GET WEAK.

THE ENEMY IS OUT THERE TO WAY-LAY YOU BUT JESUS IS THE WAY UP AND THE WAY OUT.

LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT AND THE SIN …

WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR A NIGHT.

BECAUSE JESUS IS THE WELL-SPRING OF LIFE YOU OUGHT TO SAY, IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL.

YOU MAY NOT BE WELL THOUGHT OF … OR THOUGHT OF AT ALL.

YOU MAY NOT BE

WELL-TO-DO
WELL OFF
WELL READ OR WELL FED
WELL-ROUNDED
WELL KNOWN OR WELL MANNERED

SINCE THE LORD IS WELL NIGH THEE…

HE MAKES US WELL-FAVORED
WELL-PRESERVED,
HE EVEN SURRONDS US WITH WELL-WISHERS TO KEEP US ENCOURAGED.

This means that we are about to embark upon the FEAST OF HARVESTS
THE FEAST OF FIRST FRUIT.  The church is about to experience the DAY OF PENTECOST AGAIN.

One hundred and twenty were gathered in one place.  Not knowing what would happen.  They were trusting in His word.  When they kneeled down to pray.  In blessed one accord.  The wind, the fire that filled the house was the presence of the Lord.
