It has been said that a good sermon illustration should be like a window letting light in to illuminate the subject. This is a good analogy but a good illustration does even more than that. A good illustration not only illuminates the subject but it can also re-focus the listeners attention. It can be a memorable landmark in the mind that will allow the listener to recall the preachers point. It can be an entertaining moment in an otherwise dry subject. A good sermon illustration is the icing on the cake that can make the sermon tasty.
Each week I will add some of my favorite illustrations to this site. This is a project that will take months, and years, but in the end it will be a valuable resouce for you. So check back ocasionally and see what is new.
