I am Walton Marsh. I have been a pastor for the past 30 years. I have recently retired from the full time pastorate and am currently doing interim pastor work and evangelism. My last pastorate was in the western part of South Carolina. I have also pastored in Georgia and North Carolina. I am the author of the course called Preaching With Power. During the last several years it has been my pleasure to communicate with preachers from all over the USA. There is a desire among preachers to be excellent in what we do, that is, preach. My desire with this site is to provide many resources and helps to those who stumble upon it.
Let me tell you a little more about myself. I began my ministry in South Florida in 1973 preaching at rescue missions in Miami. I also served as a lay preacher and evangelist at my home church in Hialeah. During these years I worked for Southern Bell Telephone as a repairman and a test deskman. It was in 1974 that God called me into the Gospel ministry and I surrendered to his call. I immediately began attending Miami Dade Junior College and began an intensive personal study of the Bible. After Junior College I attended Florida International University earning a BA degree in psychology.
During my college I had various part time jobs. I was a night cook at Denny's restaurant, a boat mold waxer, a construction worker, a gardener and sold encyclopaedias door to door.
After graduating the Lord opened a door for me to move to North Carolina to attend Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I also served as the minister of music and youth at the Baptist Tabernacle Church in Wendel NC while a student in seminary. After a little more than one year, God called me to pastor Everetts Baptist Church in eastern NC. This was my first pastorate and the first time I had to preach every Sunday. I soon discovered that the seminary didn't do a good job of preparing me for this task. This is when I began to search for preachers who preached with power so I could learn from them. Not all were famous, but all had that 'something' that gave them a powerful presence and powerful sermons. I continued my studies with Luthor Rice Seminary eventually graduating in 1987.
During the past 30 years the Lord has given me the opportunity of pastoring four Baptist churches and the great privilege of leading over one thousand people to faith in Christ. This is not me bragging, but me bragging on the Lord who could use such a weak vessel as I.
My last pastorate was a church of over 1000 members and I served there for 14 years. During those years I have seen over 500 come to faith in Christ during our services.
I want you to have the same privilege that I have had. To be able to see many people come to know the Lord. So I prepared the Preach with Power course to share with others what I have learned these past 30 years. I hope you will take advantage of my efforts and at least try the course.

There is no shortcut to becoming a good preacher. It will take dedication and practice. You will never become a good preacher by continually using other preacher's sermons. You will not train your mind to find the hidden structure in scripture and you will not become adept at expressing the truths of scripture in your own words. By constantly getting your ideas and sermons from the internet or from sermon books you are robbing yourself of the priviledge of having inspiration from God. You are also short changing your congregation because the sermons you preach were not specially created for them, they were just 'hand-me-downs" that may not fit properly.
It is for this reason I encourage you to learn to preach with power. The course I teach will give you everything you need to create your own sermons with ease. If you take the course you will be able to preach sermons that will speak to the heart of YOUR congregation because the sermon was designed with them in mind. You will feel good by knowing that God inspired this particular sermon into your mind. It wasn't copied, it wasn't simply a re-creation of somebody else's sermon.
